The Faculty

WSOL is served by a gifted faculty of reflective practitioners with a proven track record of expertise in their field. Each one seeks to be a person of both Word and Spirit and is committed to modeling the priority of character over gifting in those they seek to teach.

The Principal

Greg Downes - Principal, WSOL
Greg Downes
MA (Oxon), BSc (Surrey), PGCE (Cantab), PGCT (Exon), Dip Min (Oxon)
After studying for a degree in Social Policy and Administration, Greg did a PGCE in Religious Education at Cambridge before becoming the acting head of RE at the Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith.

A brief stint followed as John Stott's study assistant before reading Theology at Oxford and being ordained as an Anglican priest. Since ordination Greg has been a curate in High Wycombe, Senior Chaplain of HMP & YOI Ashfield near Bristol, Tutor in Evangelism at the London School of Theology (during which time he was an associate minister at St. Andrew's Chorleywood) and a chaplain at Oxford University.

Bridget Adams - Adjunct Faculty, WSOL
Bridget Adams
From the business world, Revd Dr Bridget Adams has extensive experience at director level. She is a specialist in the theology of work and spiritual leadership, the author of Christ in the Marketplace and on the faculty of the Kingdom Business School.
Mark Stibbe - Adjunct Faculty, WSOL
Mark Stibbe
Revd Dr Mark Stibbe leads the Father's House Trust and is committed to alleviating the global problem of fatherlessness, especially through serving and equipping leaders. The former leader of St Andrew's Church in Chorleywood, Mark is the author of many books.
Pete Wynter - Adjunct Faculty, WSOL
Pete Wynter
Pete Wynter has many years of experience in youth ministry. He has worked as a Chaplain to young offenders and as a youth pastor. He is a regular contributor at Soul Survivor and leads Onelife, an organisation which resources and trains teenagers in leadership.
Steve Cardell - Adjunct Faculty, WSOL
Steve Cardell
Steve is the CEO of HCL AXON, a $600 million global transformation consulting firm. He holds business qualifications from Bath and London Business Schools and has been published over 30 times. He is the Chair of Father's House Trust and the Presence Charitable Trust. His areas of specialist expertise are Leadership and Kingdom Business.
Robin Sanderson - Adjunct Faculty, WSOL
Robin Sanderson
BA (Hons), MTh (LST/Brunel)
Following his time at London School of Theology (92-97), Robin spent four years on the mission field in Timisoara, Romania where, together with his wife, he led a team of international and national missionaries engaged in a number of projects. On their return to England, he ran the UK office of an international mission agency for 5 years. More recently he has served on the Senior Leadership Team of Watford Community Church in the area of Spiritual Development. During this time he authored First Steps and Next Steps (courses for those new to the Christian faith). He is a Distance Learning Tutor and MA module writer for London School of Theology and teaches our Thursday morning Theology lectures giving an overview of each book of the Bible and the major themes that run through the scriptures. Besides his wife and daughters, the other great loves of his life are travel, cinema and music.
